Adios, 2011!!

Happy New Year y'all!!!  I hope everyone had a fun and safe NYE and that you all had your black eyed peas and greens at some point today.  We were successful in doing both of those.

We spend NYE in our favorite place, Oxford, MS. We headed down late yesterday afternoon to meet up a few other couples for dinner and then cocktails at one of the couple's family weekend home.  Our friends Patrick and Megan from Birmingham were in attendance as well as Stephen and Denise, Marc and his girlfriend, Paige, and Jordan and Haley.  We had never met Jordan and Haley but they were a super sweet couple who were lots of fun to be around.  After arriving to the house we had a cocktail and the ladies decided to get spiffied (sp?) up for the night while the boys stayed out on the amazing outdoor living area drinking beer and playing Playstation 3.  We then headed to dinner at 208 right off the Square.  We had reservations for 7:30 and it was packed when we arrived.  And then we waited, and waited, and waited.  It took FOREVER to get our food and most of us were completely ok with that since we had plenty of time to visit.  Our waitress informed us that since there was a complete power outage in Oxford earlier in the day it had slowed everything down in the kitchen, probably just an excuse but whatever.  Ben and I both had the lobster mac and it was FINE.  After dinner we headed back to the house for more cocktails while we waited on the ball to drop.  The boys headed back outside to do boy things and we followed with cocktails in hand to sit around the fireplace.  It was long until we decided to bust out the Wii and play Just Dance.  Not that it was any surprise to me, but I was absolutely terrible.  I think Helen Keler would have better coordination skills than me.  Haley pretty much smoked everyone and Ben did pretty well keeping up with the women.  It was finally time to say goodbye to 2011.  We all headed inside grabbed a glass of champagne and turned the TV to the local station so we could watch the guitar drop on Beale St.  It was pretty neat, I had no idea Memphis did a guitar drop but then again Beale St. would be the last place I would want to spend my NYE, I actually want to live to see the next year.  After the New Year smooches, it was back outside for some for a dance party while some stayed in.  Four frozen pizzas later, everyone was ready to call it a night.  This morning we all headed home and Ben and I headed to my Nana's to have our black eyed peas, greens, and cornbread.  We spend most of the afternoon there spending time with whoever stopped by for their good luck feast.  New years night we had a few friends over for dinner and to watch the Giants/Cowboys game.  Of course this household was cheering for Eli Manning and the Giants to beat the Cowboys.  Hooray Giants for beating the lame Cowboys and earning a spot in the playoffs!!!

Here's a few of the pictures from NYE.  Here's a resolution for 2012: take more and better pictures!!
