What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday Y'all! How blessed we are to have another day.

I'm LOVING that my Ole Miss Rebels knocked off #10 Kentucky last night. We won the game on a 3-pointer with 2.9 seconds to go.  That play was the #1 play on ESPN's Top Ten last night.  Another one of our plays was the #3 play.  I'm pretty giddy, can't you tell?

If you haven't discovered from reading my previous posts, Ben & I are HUGE Ole Miss fans.  We love and support all Ole Miss Athletics.  We met at an Ole Miss football game (Ole Miss vs. Alabama to be exact)  but what some of you probably don't know is that we actually got engaged at an Ole Miss basketball game. I have never shared our engagement story and today seems like the perfect time.

In December of 2007, I was a first year AuD student down at USM while Ben was finishing up his last semester at Ole Miss.  We spent pretty much every weekend traveling to either Hattiesburg or Oxford to see each other.  My birthday is in late November and that year it was the Monday following Thanksgiving so I was back in Hattiesburg and although I had some great friends take me out to celebrate I was still feeling glum being so far away from my family, friends, and Ben.  We planned for me to travel up to Oxford that weekend to celebrate and to watch Ole Miss take on New Mexico in basketball.  That Saturday morning, Dec. 1, 2007, we got up and ready and headed to Abner's for pre-game lunch.  It was unusually warm for December so I questioned why Ben was wearing a fleece vest over our infamous "AK's Army" t-shirt.  I later learned because he had the ring box in his pants pocket and I would have totally noticed a small square box protruding from his fitted khaki pants.  Anywho, after Abner's we headed to the Tad Pad. I know I complained about getting there at least an hour and a half before the game but Ben insisted he wanted to be on the front row so he could taunt the opposing team's players.  Finally, the coliseum starts filling up.  Ben kept recruiting his fraternity brothers and some of our friends to sit near us.  I thought nothing of this.  Game time.  Shortly into the game, there was a t.v. time out and at this particular time out it was the segment on the video board for "Kiss Cam"  and well I look up and there we are on the board!  I turn to face Ben and he is down on one knee.  The pep band is playing "Hey, Hey Baby, I Wanna Know if You'll be my Girl."  Ben says the most sweetest things and then asks me to marry him.  Of course I sad yes and put on my gorgeous ring and then my phone starts ringing.  I look to see it is my dad and he says "Did you say yes?"  I shouted "yes, but wait???"  He said your mother and I are sitting in section S.  When Ben asked permission from my parents earlier in the week, he had told him his plans and told my parents he would love for them to be there so they could witness.  I was so surprised and so happy they got to see it happen.  Ben had also arranged for one of his buddies, who was an Ole Miss photography journalism student to be there right below us on the court to capture the moment.  I later realized he was recruiting our friends so they could be there surrounding us at the big moment.  The Rebels won the game 84-77 but honestly I couldn't tell you what happened I was gawking at my ring most of the game and in a world of happiness and excitement.  I never imagined my engagement to be so public nor did I imagine getting proposed to while wearing a t-shirt, but it couldn't have been any more perfect or anymore "Ben & Lindsey."  My hands are shaky as I type this post because I still get so excited when I think back to that special day.

Happy Wednesday Y'all!
